Our Story
The Hart Judo Academy has been developing champions in judo and in life since 1998. Located on the Hart Highway in Prince George, BC, it was founded by head instructor and Canadian judo champion Bruce Kamstra.
Sensei Bruce is a 6th degree black belt (roku-dan) and a Competition Development level coach (NCCP level 3). He has been part of both the provincial and junior national coaching teams and has had opportunity to travel with judo across Europe, Asia and North America. He also held the role of Judo BC head coach for many years.
Over the past 20+ years, it has been our pleasure to watch hundreds of students develop the skills they need to achieve both athletic and personal goals. Hart Judo Academy athletes have competed at all levels - including local and regional tournaments, the BC games, Western Canada games and Canada games, junior and senior National Championships, junior and senior Pan Am Games and even tournaments in Europe! One day we hope to see an Olympic athlete from the Hart Judo Academy. At last count 23 people have received their black belts with us!
We currently have classes for ages 5 and up. Contact us today to find out how you can join our vibrant judo community.
